THE HEART OF HOME

As Laura Ingalls Wilder once said, “Home is the nicest word there is.” At The Cottage Schoolhouse, I believe in creating meaningful moments where families can slow down and savor the joy of childhood through learning together.

The Cottage Schoolhouse grew from my love of home education and my passion for creating learning resources that feel cozy, thoughtful, and full of meaning.

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

My approach to education is rooted in beauty, creativity, and a deep respect for childhood. I believe children learn best when they are surrounded by good books, inspired by nature, and given the freedom to use their hands and imagination.

The resources at The Cottage Schoolhouse are designed to feel rich but gentle. You’ll find thoughtfully chosen children’s books, hands-on activities, creative projects, and opportunities to explore the world in meaningful ways.

I also believe that practical life skills belong alongside academic learning. Whether it’s creating, building, observing, or caring for the world around them, children grow confidence when learning connects to real life.

Most of all, I want parents to enjoy this time with their children. That’s why I do the planning for you. Each study is carefully curated so you can open it up, gather your children, and spend your time learning together rather than piecing lessons together on your own.

CREATED & ILLUSTRATED WITH LOVE

I’m Kessler Patillo, a homeschool mom, artist, and graphic designer with a heart for creating cozy, whimsical learning resources that inspire joy and curiosity.

I love celebrating the seasons and the warmth and wonder that nature brings to both life and learning. That love is woven into every resource I create. Each illustration is patiently and lovingly drawn by hand, reflecting the same habits of noticing, wonder, and delight that I hope to encourage in children.

Thank you for supporting my little corner of creativity. It truly means so much. I hope these resources bring beauty, joy, and a sense of wonder to your homeschool days.
